Information For Authors

Revista de la Unión Matemática Argentina publishes original research articles in all areas of pure and applied mathematics. To be published in this journal, a paper must be new, correct and nontrivial. Further, it must be of interest to mathematicians. Manuscripts submitted for publication should not be already published nor submitted simultaneously for publication in another journal.

All articles submitted to this journal are peer-reviewed under a single-blind review process. Contributions are initially assessed by the editors for suitability for the journal; those deemed suitable are then sent to at least one independent expert reviewer to assess their scientific quality. The Editor-in-chief and the Managing Editors are responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of all articles.

Manuscripts should be written in English.

Articles must be submitted using a PDF file. Upon acceptance, authors are required to submit their final manuscripts using LaTeX with the amsart document class, which is present in any standard LaTeX installation. The following fragment should be pasted at the very beginning of the .tex file, and no modifications to the main font size or the page layout (e.g. page size, margins, etc.) should be introduced:

  \documentclass[10pt,reqno]{amsart}
  \usepackage{geometry}
  \geometry{paperwidth=176mm, paperheight=250mm, textheight=189mm,
            tmargin=35mm, lmargin=30mm, rmargin=20mm, headsep=8mm,
            headheight=11.0pt, footskip=30pt, twoside=true}

Authors should follow as closely as possible the conventions for writing documents with the amsart class, such as:

  • Top matter: Use the command \title. Do not add centering or boldface to the title. For each author, use the commands \author\address\email. Do not use footnotes for affiliations.
  • Wrap proofs using the proof environment (i.e., \begin{proof} ... \end{proof}).
  • Control the alignment of equations using the environments provided by the amsmath package (e.g., equationsplit, align, multline, gather, etc.). Avoid the obsolete environment eqnarray.
  • Use \label and \ref commands to create automatic cross-references. Cite equations using \eqref.

Bibliographic references should be arranged in alphabetical order by first author's surname. It is important to check the correctness (both in form and in content) of all the references; we recommend the use of the following tools:

Submissions in other formats are accepted but may experience delays in the publication process. In any case, once the paper is accepted for publication, an electronic final version will be required. Authors who do not use LaTeX with the amsart document class should follow these guidelines (for further layout details, refer to the latest issue of this journal):

  • The title of the manuscript should be four lines below the top of the writing area.
  • The name of the author(s) should follow the title, then the institutional data, and finally the abstract in English, which shall not exceed 200 words.
  • Keywords and/or acknowledgments of financial support should be included in a footnote on the first page.
  • The concepts that are defined shall be written in italics.
  • Figures and tables, with correlative numbering, shall be inserted in the text. In case of appendices, they shall be included at the end of the text, before the references.

Electronic submissions should be made online following the instructions on this webpage
Alternatively, printed manuscripts should be sent to:
